Area Police
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
