The star has given the complete sum of his £25,000 award prize money to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the UK's grassroots concert spaces.
Fender was awarded the prize on mid-October as his new release People Watching was declared the best record of the previous year.
Fender has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages played in his early career.
"As an artist wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are struggling."
From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.
Recently, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.
He also took part, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The money supported venues that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and noise complaints.
Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and fans.
"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues backs the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.
Fender is among several artists to contribute his Mercury Prize winnings to good deeds.
In they won the award in the mid-90s for their release Different Class, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.
In 2002, musician she split her prize among several organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"Additionally, I contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.
Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their band, alongside other grassroots music organisations.
And the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the disease.
"The victory was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning affected the lives of others."
In the past week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had saved a couple of local spots in south-east England, by placing them under community ownership.
The first in that area and the second in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by a national body and supporters who buy "shares" in the venues.
