19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.
The win also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an better serve.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a decider.
Moutet rescued four early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
